You don’t have to be a mad scientist to create these cute and creepy creations…but it probably wouldn’t hurt.
RMC has an Amazon Storefront! If you see an ingredient or piece of equipment in a video and think you’d find it useful, click here and check it out. If you decide to purchase something in the storefront, I’ll receive a small percentage, but it won’t increase your price at all.
INGREDIENTS
10 ounces of marshmallows
8 cups (216g) of crispy rice cereal
1/4 cup (57 g) of butter
1/2 cup (66g) of marshmallow fluff
Some green food coloring
1 1/2 cups (270g) of dark chocolate
36 candy eyes
18 small Tootsie Rolls
SUPPLIES
A greased 9×13 baking pan
A saucepan
A large mixing bowl
A spatula
A cutting board
Some parchment
And a bag for piping
DIRECTIONS
In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter.
Add the marshmallow fluff and stir until it’s almost completely melted.
Add the marshmallows and stir constantly until they are completely melted and smooth.
Add some green food coloring and stir until it’s completely mixed in. Use more than you think is necessary, because the color will be diluted when you add the cereal.
Place the cereal in the mixing bowl, then add the marshmallow mixture.
Stir until it’s completely mixed.
You can put some gloves on and dig in, but be careful, as this is very hot.
Add the coated cereal to the 13×9 pan and press it down, then refrigerate it for at least 15 minutes or until firm.
Cut the mini Tootsie Rolls in half.
Remove the pan from the refrigerator and cut the rice mixture into whatever size pieces you’d like. I ended up with 18 pieces, which I think is a perfect size for these.
Melt the chocolate and dip the top of a piece into the chocolate, let the excess drain, and place it on a lined cutting board.
Continue with the remaining pieces.
Transfer the remaining melted chocolate into a piping bag, pipe dots where you want the eyes to be and stick candy eyes to the dots of chocolate.
Pipe a mouth onto the face.
Pipe some chocolate onto a Tootsie Roll half and stick it to the side of the bar. Place another Tootsie Roll half on the other side.
Continue with the remaining pieces and refrigerate until set.
